Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic, relapsing condition characterized by an overly active immune response to the gut enteric flora, resulting in bowel inflammation and ulceration. With the increasing prevalence of disease and advances in the available treatments, gastroenterology fellows require further education regarding the diagnosis, classification, and management of patients with IBD. In this educational activity, expert physicians will discuss the pathogenesis, treatments, and strategies to improve the quality of care for patients afflicted with IBD.
