Ulcerative colitis is the most common inflammatory bowel disease in the world and is associated with significant morbidity and diminished quality of life. Historically, treatment options have had limited success, with half of patients failing to achieve sustained remission. Recently approved therapies have been shown to reduce symptoms and achieve remission. In this activity, leading clinicians will review the safety, tolerability, and efficacy data of available treatment options and discuss the assessment of disease activity and response to therapy to develop the most effective management strategies for patients with ulcerative colitis.
