Modulators of the sphingosine-1-phosphate subtype 1 (S1P1) and S1P5 receptors are being investigated in the treatment of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These drugs are oral agents, which may be more acceptable to patients, and they might help avoid the development of antidrug antibodies that can lead to treatment failure. In this CME activity, Dr. William Sandborn discusses current data on these investigational agents and how they might address unmet needs in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
