IBD is associated with significant morbidity, diminished quality of life, and, in some cases, mortality. Several agents with a variety of mechanisms of action are now available for the treatment of IBD. The goals of treatment are to induce and maintain clinical and endoscopic remission, prevent or treat complications, minimize toxicity, and enhance quality of life. In this CME activity, Dr. Russell D. Cohen provides a brief overview of currently available therapies for the management of IBD.
