Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative flagellated bacterium organism that is present in over one-half of the world’s population. Chronic infection with H pylori can cause atrophic and metaplastic alterations in the gastric mucosa, contributing to ulcer disease. This educational activity will discuss the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of infection with this organism.
