There is a common belief that glaucoma is a one-pressure disease – intraocular pressure. However, a pressure imbalance between intraocular pressure and cerebrospinal fluid pressure may play a major role in the pathogenesis of glaucomatous optic nerve damage. This educational activity will explore the role of the cerebrospinal fluid pressure differential between the eye and the cerebrospinal fluid pressure across the lamina cribrosa.
