It is estimated that 16.4 million persons in the United States have been diagnosed with dry eye disease (DED). An additional 6 million are estimated to have the disease but have no formal diagnosis. Dry eye is also prevalent in patients with glaucoma. In a recent study, DED was found in 74% of patients with newly diagnosed primary open-angle glaucoma. In addition, some medications used to treat glaucoma are known to cause or exacerbate DED. The faculty of this CME activity will assess the effects of and management strategies for DED in patients with glaucoma, as well as explore new tools and techniques in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery that may improve outcomes for patients with DED. Clinical cases will be presented to highlight the key educational objectives.
