It is estimated that 16.4 million Americans have been diagnosed with dry eye disease (DED). An additional 6 million are estimated to have the disease, but do not have a formal diagnosis. Moreover, DED is also prevalent in patients with glaucoma; in a recent study, DED was found in 74% of patients with newly diagnosed primary open-angle glaucoma. In addition, some medications used to treat glaucoma are known to cause or exacerbate DED. This CME activity will assess the effects of DED in patients with glaucoma and explore management strategies, as well as new tools and techniques in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, that may improve outcomes for patients with DED.
