Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Currently, the only proven effective treatment for glaucoma is to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) to a safe level to prevent additional optic nerve damage. When medical and laser therapy options have failed to lower the IOP to an acceptable level, incisional surgery is indicated. This educational activity will explore the thought process in choosing the best surgical procedure for the patient with glaucoma.
