Brain metastases in metastatic melanoma are highly prevalent and are associated with significant morbidity and a poor prognosis. Historically, treatment options have been limited to local therapy (surgery or radiotherapy). However, a new paradigm is evolving as systemic therapy is assuming an increasingly important role in the management of patients with melanoma brain metastases. In this CME activity, Dr. Sanjiv Agarwala discusses recent clinical trial data on chemotherapeutic, immunotherapeutic, and targeted agents in melanoma brain metastases, as well as the rationale and evidence for combination modalities.
