Geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of age-related macular degradation (AMD) affects approximately 5 million individuals worldwide. Advances in predictive and diagnostic techniques provide the opportunity for an earlier diagnosis of AMD yet currently, there are no approved therapies for the treatment of GA. In this live activity, held in conjunction with the Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) Summer Symposium, experts in the field provide review and guidance for the classification of early to late AMD, visualization and visual function, updates on nutritional supplements, as well as assessment of emerging treatment options for the management of advanced AMD/GA.
