Optimizing the ocular surface before surgery decreases the incidence and severity of dry eye postoperatively. In patients with preoperative dry eye symptoms using artificial tears, nutrition supplements, punctal occlusion, or topical cyclosporine help decrease the incidence of more severe symptoms postoperatively. This CME activity will discuss evidence-based clinical studies and best practices regarding medical and surgical therapies of ocular surface disorders.
