Vaccination rates for the human papillomavirus (HPV) continue to be below those of other vaccines recommended for adolescents. Research has shown only 40% of US girls and 22% of boys aged 13 to 17 years receive all 3 doses of the vaccine. There are a number of reasons why vaccination rates are low, including lack of knowledge about HPV and discomfort talking about sexual activity. In this CME activity, expert faculty will review the clinical advances in HPV vaccination and strategies to increase completion of the HPV series. They will also use role-play to demonstrate how to frame discussions with patients and parents and how to respond to their concerns.
