Uveitic macular edema has a wide variety of etiologies, including infection, autoimmune disease, genetics, iatrogenic effects and tumors. Because treatment varies according to etiology, severity and location, it is important to determine these factors during diagnosis. Accurate differential diagnosis is also required to rule out conditions with similar presentation. Corticosteroid therapy is widely used in most types and etiologies of uveitis, and several steroid agents with differing properties and route of administration are in use. Moreover, several sustained release formulations are in use or in development. Selection of the appropriate agent depends on the specific diagnosis. In this gaming activity, expert faculty will test your knowledge regarding the pathogenesis of uveitic macular edema, best practices for the use of imaging for the differential diagnosis of uveitic macular edema, the clinical data supporting the use of conventional and emerging corticosteroid therapies as well as their role in the various etiologies of the condition.
