Although clinical trials of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy in patients with neovascular retinal disease have yielded impressive results, there is increasing evidence that these outcomes may be elusive in real-world clinical practice. To ensure that optimal therapy for patients is provided, comprehensive ophthalmologists must be aware of the disparity in outcomes, its causes, and strategies that can address the barriers to the effective treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). In this continuing education activity, expert clinicians discuss the various injection protocols and the effects of treatment on long-term outcomes as well as the latest clinical evidence in treating patients with nAMD, DR, DME, and RVO.
