Prompt diagnosis and timely initiation of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapies are imperative for optimal visual acuity gains for patients with central or branch retinal vein occlusion (RVO)-related macular edema. The integration of newer imaging technologies into the current diagnostic algorithm, along with emerging biomarkers, are aiding in the early and accurate diagnosis of RVO as well as guiding management decisions. Furthermore, treatment protocols for RVO continue to be assessed and refined, providing options for reducing the treatment burden on these patients while providing optimal visual acuity outcomes.
