Intravitreal therapy has rapidly evolved to become a mainstay of treatment for many retinal diseases, and it offers many patients delayed or arrested disease progression and, in some, the possibility of regaining lost vision. The discovery that intravitreal therapy can be effective in treating neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) has spurred further research to explore the outcomes of treatment regimens using this approach. Furthermore, newer protocols that allow for longer intervals between treatments are now available and hold promise in lessening treatment burden. In this case-based educational activity, expert clinicians review the latest updates on the different anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) regimens as well as data on the effects of different types of retinal fluid.
