Diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms for the management of retinal vascular diseases continue to be advanced and refined at a rapid pace. In addition, indications for current therapies are steadily expanding, while the discovery and evaluation of novel agents continue to be assessed in clinical studies. Outcomes from studies that demonstrate efficacy of novel agents, long-term efficacy and safety of currently available therapies, as well as enhancement of diagnostic modalities for retinal vascular disease are commonly presented at international conferences, which many retinal specialists and comprehensive ophthalmologists are unable to attend. In this Rapid Response from EURETINA 2017, experts in the field provide overview, analysis, and discussion of the most pertinent scientific data presented at the Congress, as well as cover new developments in imaging and refined protocols for the dosing, frequency, efficacy, and safety of current therapies, along with emerging treatment approaches for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion.
