Current standard-of-care intravitreal therapies have significantly enhanced visual outcomes for patients with neovascular retinal diseases. Unfortunately, there are patients who do not receive an optimal response from these current therapies or do not adhere to dosing schedules due to treatment burden. To address these issues, several novel delivery systems along with therapies that target alternative pathways are currently being evaluated in clinical studies. Understanding of these therapeutic advances prior to their approval is imperative for their optimal integration into clinical practice. In this educational activity, experts in the field evaluate new emerging approaches in drug delivery and gene therapy, as well as assess novel targeted therapy options for the treatment of neovascular retinal diseases.
