The treatment armamentarium for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has seen massive expansion over the past 2 decades. Advances in the field of rheumatology are expected to continue with a multitude of biologics and small molecules currently in the pipeline. Additionally, new data on the optimal use of older agents are emerging. How will these advancements fit into the treatment paradigm? In this expert panel, some of the most current research in rheumatology will be discussed including data on emerging small molecules, first-in-class agents with novel mechanisms of action, and down-titration/discontinuation studies, among other developments in this rapidly evolving field.
