As more biosimilars are approved for use in the United States, greater emphasis is needed on educating patients about their treatment options, the use of biosimilars, and shared decision-making between patients and their providers. In this CME activity, expert faculty and a patient advocate will discuss issues and concerns expressed by patients who are about to start treatment with a biosimilar product or are to be switched from an originator product to a biosimilar. The patient advocate will discuss how providers can explain biosimilars in easy-to -understand terms to patients. The faculty will discuss potential clinical and financial barriers regarding the use of biosimilars. Participants will learn how they can discuss these issues and concerns with their patients and how patients can obtain resources that will help them to make an informed decision about the use of biosimilars.
