Gout is an inflammatory arthritis characterized by the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in the joints, tendons, and connective tissues. Refractory gout is marked by serum urate levels that do not drop below 6 mg/dL accompanied by recurrent flares and increased tophi. In this CME program, expert faculty will review the burden and comorbidities of uncontrolled gout, examine best practices and diagnostic tools for its detection, and discuss current and emerging treatment options. This Rapid Response web activity will feature clinical experts highlighting abstracts and key sessions from the recent American College of Rheumatology Convergence and American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week 2022 meetings.
